Seller's Notes:This substantial American floor clock was produced by Howard Miller and represents the company’s higher-grade traditional production of the late twentieth century. The clock bears serial number 579760, consistent with Howard Miller production of the early 1990s. The clock is housed in a finely finished solid oak case with pronounced grain, featuring a broken-arch (bonnet) top with burl veneer panel, full fluted columns, and beveled glass to the front door and side panels. The proportions are architectural and well balanced, giving the piece strong vertical presence without visual weight. The brass dial is signed “Howard Miller” and displays applied Arabic numerals, decorative spandrels, and a moon-phase calendar arch. Powering the clock is a German-made Kieninger cable-driven mechanical movement, operating on three weights and offering three chime selections—Westminster (“Weste”), Whittington (“Whitt”), and Winchester (“Winch”)—as well as a silent mode, selectable by the user. The chimes sound through eight rods, producing a rich, resonant tone. This clock combines traditional American case craftsmanship with respected German movement engineering, serving equally as a functional timepiece and a refined architectural statement.
