Seller's Notes:This is the original large Polder Sofa with the detachable ottoman and end block cushion. I bought two of these for my Dutch company’s North American HQ and loved them so much I bought the larger version for myself. Now we are moving to France, I will not have room for a monumental sofa such as this. It is almost as new despite its age - it has never been subjected to animals, smoke or children and has absolutely maintained its integrity. We also have an additional cream colored seat cover to give contrast (which has never been taken out of its packing. Please note that for transporting, the “ottoman” on the left side can be detached (inbuilt zipper). Please note, you can no longer buy this beautifully crafted original model as new. Subsequent models do not have the front retaining upholstered bar. Needless to say, given its length, it could function beautifully as a day bed, although we have never used it for that purpose.

In the home country of Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, the word 'polder' refers to low-lying flatlands, typically subdivided into fields for agriculture, which have been reclaimed from the sea by means of dykes and drainage canals. Created with a flat surface and horizontal emphasis that evoke the characteristic features of this type of landscape, the Polder Sofa exhibits an unusual asymmetrical shape and carefully crafted combination of colours, materials and textures.
