Seller's Notes:6 framed prints (sold as a set) depicting 18th century fashion engraving from the Galerie Des Modes et Costumes Francais a renowned 10-year collection documenting 18th century fashion (cover and 5 fashion costume plates). The original engravings served as fashion documentation in Paris between 1778-1787 and is regarded as one of the most accurate pictorial archives of pre-Revolutionary French haute couture. Femme Galante a sa Toilette ployant un billet depicts a woman in a dress gown and elaborate hairstyle preparing at her toilette table. Lady Pulling up her stocking depicts a woman in a striped robe a la polonaise dress adjusting her stocking. Vetement dit a la Creole depicts a striped gown in the creole style worn with a brown jacket and a large tasseled sash. La Levite gown from the courtly era of Marie Antoinette. Lady's Gold Taffeta Ball Gown (plate no 86) depicts a women in an extravagant dress, and elaborate hairstyle, typical of pre-revolution Paris. The prints were framed at J Pocker & Son a premier source for bespoke custom framing. Assume these are high quality reproductions of the 18th century fashion plates based on the quality and coloring of the prints, and the attention to detail in the custom framing and matting of the images. The framing paper on the back of one of the prints is torn. Sold as a set of 6 prints.
