Vintage/Antique Dining Table
Product details
Seller's Notes:Another fine collector’s example of a Duncan Phyfe–style mahogany drop-leaf table from the 19th century. Expertly restored with a hand-rubbed oil varnish, this piece carries a fascinating provenance. It once resided in Boston, where it sustained smoke damage during a notable hotel fire in the 1970s, and before that, it was part of a New York City residence. Crafted in the 1920s by Kittinger Furniture—renowned for producing high-quality, faithful reproductions—this table reflects both history and craftsmanship. The Duncan Phyfe style gained immense popularity in America, inspiring generations of furniture makers. Drop-leaf tables, such as this one, were especially admired for their versatility and space-saving design. Hallmarks of the style include a pedestal base with splayed legs, often ending in brass paw feet. Beautiful yet practical, Duncan Phyfe–style tables remain highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs alike. With Leaf's closed: 38" Long x 17" Wide x 29 1/4" Tall. With Leaf's open: 46" Wide.
