Seller's Notes:I recently picked up this beautiful 1967 GE Central Park by William Tell woodcrafters mid century modern stereo console from Don and Sally as they were downsizing their belongings and moving to Florida for the next phase of their lives. Don bought this console as a Christmas present for his pregnant young wife, and they enjoyed a wide variety of music playing on this over the years. It was certainly the centerpoint of their home during the holidays and on Sunday’s Don would listen to the Bears games on it while watching them on TV, as he preferred the radio announcers over the TV ones. They obviously loved this piece, as it never moved from it’s living room spot for 59 years. Many of these that we pick up to restore have really been dragged through the ringer and require much work. This was a museum piece and always cleaned and cared for. It’s nice when that happens. The refurbishment and restoration is minor. We have restored many of these illustrious GE consoles, and really love not only the look, but the deep sound that GE was famous for. When we recondition the speaker drivers we take care in making sure they don’t sound like treble cruisers or new wave boom boxes, but keep the deep tonality that hifi’s were famous for delivering. To keep the budget of buying these affordable, we offer various levels of upgrades so we can keep it in line, with turntables from $129 up to, well, $699 and above if so desired. The same for the new modernized amps we install and integrate. From really great deep sounding solid state amps tuned for this piece as standard equipment, or by adding optional upgraded internal and set-top tube amps for not only performance but nostalgia as desired. Rest assured, all of our restored consoles have had the integration of bluetooth into the sound system so you can stream all of your playlists, channels, or any radio station world-wide. And yes, many customers in the past have asked for CD/DVD players, tape players you name it. And with our background in audio engineering, no integration is too big. And to answer a few questions, yes we have over 25 mid century stereo console wall units and bars in our shop, yes they range from $600 on up to $14,000.
