Condition: Good: Minor blemishes that most people won't notice
Wear and tear details:
- pitting on desk surface
Seller's Notes: Selling a vintage mid century tanker desk in great used condition. This desk has signs of wear (pictured) including fading on the front and side paint and pitting on the desktop itself. In my opinion, these add to the vintage charm of the piece but information abounds on the internet about how to refinish tankers to their original glory. Despite being metal, once empty, the desk is not terribly heavy and can easily be carried by two people. Note: Photos include some shots of our home office set-up (computer, chair, etc.) but these are just for context and scale. The only item sold through this listing is the physical desk itself. Tanker Desks: "Unlike the seasonal mass-produced furniture common today, tanker furniture was designed to be completely fireproof with a workmanship that would last beyond a lifetime. Tanker desks, ubiquitous in American and Canadian offices in the 1950s, were favoured because of their sturdiness and high-guage steel construction." https://www.retropeacock.com/how-to-restore-a-tanker-desk-for-your-1950s-retro-office.html#.XQafkdNKjUI+ Read more...
