Seller's Notes:Vintage, rare Mid-Century Modern MCM 1930s Thonet Stool No. 60 by Alvar Aalto. It is manufactured by Thonet, and is a known attribution to Alvar Aalto. This works as a stool or as a side/coffee/accent/occasional table. It has 4 blond lacquered birch bentwood legs. Dimensions are 18 inches tall and 13 inches top diameter. In very good vintage condition. Stands solidly. Original black plastic bakelite top surface is in great condition, with light wear proportional to age. It has had two barely visible repairs to the underneath edge, as in picture showing underneath. The original bakelite top material has a slight sheen to it. Legs are covered in original clear lacquer with expected light wear as seen in pictures, and a 1/4 inch chip on 1 leg (pictured) visible on the closet inspection. Screws are original, and two are missing, as seen in picture. These could be replaced easily with modern equivalents if desired, and have not compromised its stability or strength. Overall the condition is very good, and the above blemishes are described in detail but are only noticeable on detailed inspection (most of them I never noticed before writing up this listing). Overall, an elegant and hard-to-find 1930s piece in this striking combination of materials and colors, in very good condition for its 90 or so years.
