Seller's Notes:A handsome vintage coffee table in the iconic Barcelona manner, featuring the signature X-form flat-bar chrome base and a thick plate glass top with rounded corners. Originally conceived by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 as part of his German Pavilion at the Barcelona International Exposition, the Barcelona table has been one of the defining objects of modernist design for nearly a century. This quality vintage example was produced circa 1970s–1980s and bears no maker's markings, consistent with quality unlicensed or licensed production of the period. The base is composed of flat steel bar stock in a brushed satin chrome finish, four legs rising from a central X-stretcher. The construction is solid, well-proportioned, and structurally sound with no wobble. The saddle brackets at the top of each leg support the glass cleanly and without visible hardware, exactly as in the original Mies design. Age-appropriate patina on the chrome adds warmth and authenticity. The thick plate glass top — approximately 3/4 inch — exhibits the characteristic aqua-green tint produced by the depth of quality glass, with generously rounded corners and a smooth polished perimeter edge. Condition is very good with light surface wear consistent with careful use. No chips, cracks, or notable scratches. At 36 inches square and 16.5 inches high, it offers slightly more compact proportions than the 40-inch Knoll standard — a practical and livable scale for most living rooms.
