UWS NYC Chinese Apothecary
Product details
Seller's Notes:Large sold wood apothecary with 24 drawers, each labeled in Chinese characters indicating an herb or medicinal (e.g., yellow bone, root essence, etc.). Each drawer is subdivided into 6 compartments, a few of the drawers have compartments that have been removed to allow for more storage space. The drawers are each numbered on the back, presumably to keep the herbs in a specific order. There is no documentation of the apothecary's age, however, it appears to be late qing dynasty, around 1800 to very early 1900s. We bought this piece years ago from an antique store and it is just too big for our new apartment.
