Seller's Notes:Thaden-Jordan 1940 Herbert Von Thaden Mid-Century Modern birch steam-bent plywood table & chairs 5pc set As designed by Herbert Von Thaden & Donald Lewis Jordan, Manufactured by Thaden-Jordan Furniture Co. Design features the unique bent wood application for which the designers were known for. During World War II, Donald Lewis Jordan launched his company in Roanoke, Virginia, USA, to produce plywood products for the US military. After the end of the war, he joined with aeronautics engineer Herbert von Thaden to form the Thaden-Jordan Furniture Company. They patented several designs during this time using thin birch plywood. The business closed in 1952. Additional details: dining table features curved legs (bent wood application) and square shaped table top, identifiable to an earlier design. Leaves can be pulled outward for an extended length to accommodate additional guests. A separate matching table top extension piece (leaf) is included for the extended length. Four matching chairs feature the same polished finish, curved legs, inclined seating, and minimalist design. Underside section of seats include original manufacturer stamp and sticker information. Some of the legible markings include: "T/J Molded Plywood Furniture", "Thaden-Jordan Furniture Corporation, Roanoke, Virginia". Table shows some wear. One chair back has stress cracks and breaks. One has chips & losses to lower back joint. Photos are of the actual set.
