Seller's Notes:This Americana mid-century 4-drawer hardwood writing desk is part of a set (dresser and nightstand listed separately), made by Sumter Cabinet Company in South Carolina, USA. It features an intricately carved pattern band near the top, detailed brass drawer pulls, a carved reed style column on the left, fully removable drawers, interlocking wood-on-wood drawer guides, a large surface area for writing, and Jacobean style legs. Sumter Cabinet Company made high quality furniture from late 19th c. until the company was sold in 1999. They built products using 28-step finishing process, with a focus on strength and durability. I inherited this set from my grandfather and it's been lovingly used for at least 50 years. As such, there are a few scratches and dings but all cosmetic and most are hard to find. Two of the solid (non-turned) legs have been scored but not in a manner that affects stability or usability. I have a non-shedding-breed dog, so if you have severe dog allergies, be aware. The desk is clean with no sun or water damage, and has never been exposed to smoke or heavy perfumes. I'm moving to a much, much smaller home soon, so the time has come for me to pass this on to someone who will love and use it as much as I have.
