This is a rare, discontinued RH piece inspired by an original 1920s London postal sorting table. Constructed from solid iron with a distressed gunmetal finish, it features a sheet metal top and RH’s signature chain-bound X-stretcher design. The clean industrial aesthetic makes it a statement piece that works beautifully in loft, modern, rustic, and contemporary spaces. In 1920s London, driverless trolleys whizzed through underground rail tunnels ferrying mail between stations, where it was sorted on metal tables like this one. We found the vintage original in southern England and reproduced its foursquare simplicity and unusual chain-bound stretcher design in a variety of heights to suit non-industrial settings.
