They are made of iron and metal and they are extremely sturdy, they store textbooks, keepsakes, crystals, framed photos, storage boxes and more. They are also very sturdy with built in levelers that make them stable on uneven surfaces and that prevent tip over. I used them to store my many textbooks in my last 2 years of graduate studies.
