Seller's Notes:This sophisticated and classy armchair set by Poltrona Frau is their 'Metropolis' art deco chair design first introduced in circa 1935 and re-released for their 80th year anniversary of Poltrona Frau in 1992, and commemorated through this signed and numbered editions demonstrated on the brass plaques located on the rear of the chairs. This special 80 year anniversary edition (Poltrona Frau 1912 to 1992) signed and numbered editions of 'Metropolis' art deco armchairs are numbered #796 and #797 shown on the brass plaques. One of the photos shows a closeup of this brass plaque which reads (in Google Translator): "Identical to the original model proposed on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its foundation.” This pair of Poltrona Frau Metropolis lounge armchairs is accompanied by one Poltrona Frau 'Vanity Fair' ottoman which is upholstered in the same leather and have the same wood finish and shaped legs, as was meant to correspond with this set. The soft green leather is high quality, thick leather hides that Poltrona Frau was known for. The quality leather has soft aging but only very light wear, giving it a casual and relaxed feel that would take years to reproduce with a new chair; these 'Metropolis' art deco club chairs are showroom condition signed and numbered collectors examples - you can't get all of this from buying a new chair today. This design would work excellent in today's Post-Modern heavy decor, with the deep, possibly emerald, green leather, and given this is a classic Poltrona Frau art deco design re-released in 1992, the heart of the Post-Modern era.
