Mid-Century Daybed Sofa by Hans J. Wegner
Product details
Seller's Notes:Daybed designed by Hans J. Wegner for GETAMA (1960s Denmark). This sofa doubles as a single bed when the backrest is lifted. Usable as is, but you can feel the springs so pricing reflects need for mattress to be restored if desired (restored sofas sell for $7,000-10,000). Light pen mark on seat, but fabric in relatively good condition otherwise given its age. Slight damage to bottom of lower back board close to floor from moving (see photo). Approximate Measurements: 80.75" long x 33.75" deep x 33” high, 37” with seat back raised. Seat height 18”.
Item was steamed cleaned when I purchased it about 10 years ago.
Designed by Hans Wegner in 1954, the GE 258 day bed is a versatile piece of furniture. The upholstered backrest lifts to provide a roomy bed. Crafted in solid wood, this bench is hand built at Getama’s factory in Gedsted, Denmark by skilled cabinetmakers using traditional Scandinavian techniques.
