If you would like to attach them to the frame you will need to order a set of the black plastic grips to attach as I lost one in move. They are available and super cheap on Amazon. This is why you will see toward the foot of the bed a gap with 2 missing slats. Because it didn't effect the sturdiness of the bed I just never got around to purchasing a set of black plastic grips to attach the 2 additional slats. So its up to you!
