Korean Antique Black Lacquer Armoire
Product details
Seller's Notes:This three-piece Korean lacquer armoire was purchased directly from the craftsman in South Korea by my grandparents and imported to the US. They bought the armoire for $10,000 USD in 1978 (which would be $46k USD today). We've inherited the piece, and while it is truly beautiful, we no longer have space for it in our home and are thus selling it. The intricate pearl and jade inlays on the black wooden lacquer surface depict cranes, dragons, forest animals and nature scenes. The cabinet is more akin to a work of art than a typical piece of furniture. The center armoire piece has two doors that open, and the side cabinets have one large door each. The left armoire piece has two drawers on the bottom, the right piece has one drawer. The center piece has one large drawer and a shelf in the middle. The cabinet is used and has a couple of minor chips in the black lacquer (mainly minor chips along the edges of the furniture which can be seen from the side view). These chips can be touched up with black lacquer should the future owner want to improve them. It has a small crack in the main armoire section but this is just cosmetic and not very noticeable on the inside. Overall the item is in good condition and all pearl inlays are intact.
