Knoll Classic Florence Credenza
Product details
Seller's Notes:If you know then you know. Florence Marguerite Knoll Bassett (née Schust; May 24, 1917 – January 25, 2019) was an American architect, interior designer, furniture designer, and entrepreneur who has been credited with revolutionizing office design and bringing modernist design to office interiors. The Florence Knoll Collection has been credited with revolutionizing office design. The "Knoll Look" is/was marked by rationalized space plans, modern furniture, sleek geometries, and an integration of structure, color, and texture. In 1957, Architectural Forum said "the Knoll interior is as much a symbol of modem architecture as Tiffany glass was a symbol of the architecture of Art Nouveau." The NY Times critic, Paul Goldberger, said she “probably did more than any other single figure to create the modern, sleek, postwar American office, introducing contemporary furniture and a sense of open planning into the work environment.” The Credenza remains one of the most sought-after of her pieces and this one is unblemished maintaining the original leather pulls and no after-market locks (as some have). CONDITION I have two Credenzas to choose from -- both are unblemished in that they don't have locks that scar some of the original credenzas. All original leather pulls intact as well as drawers and shelves. Some of the walnut has texture on top and show where appropriate to their age (see photo). Both have been kept under one roof for the last 30 years and are in good shape. As I suspect you know, these are heavy units which add to their stability and strength once they land in their final resting place. If bought as a pair -- the condition and color of walnuts are consistent. *THESE CREDENZAS ARE IN BROOKLYN*
