John Jack Otterson Original Mid-Century Modern Art/Painting
Product details
Seller's Notes:This is an original John "Jack" Otterson abstract modernist painting. I believe this is acrylic, but may be oil. Jack Otterson was an American art director for film, who was educated in art at Yale. Mr. Otterson was nominated for eight Academy Awards for Best Art Direction and he worked on 300 films between 1934 and 1953. An abstract by Mr. Otterson was used in the set design for the television show Frasier and his art is included at the Yale Art Museum in New Haven, Connecticut. This painting is in grays and blacks with pops of primary colors including red, purple, blue and yellow. It appears to be an abstract still life of a table, perhaps with a slice of fruit. It would be a perfect addition to your mid-century modern decor-- a true center piece. This painting is large measuring approximately 29 x 35 itself and 25 x 39 with the frame. The exterior frame (there is no glass-- this is a frame as is intended for paintings) is a gray fabric with a black wood border. The fabric has a few holes/tears (as shown in the photos) and the black trim has areas where the paint has worn off). It could use either a new frame or some restoration work to the existing frame. There is also water staining on the back of the piece but this has not impacted the front of the art work.
