Seller's Notes:Key Characteristics • Style: Jacobean or "Tudor" Revival. The most striking features are the carved bulbous legs (often called "melon bulbs" or "cup-and-cover" turnings), which were a status symbol in Elizabethan and Jacobean England. • Material: Oak. The prominent, flaky grain seen in your close-ups is known as Quarter-Sawn Oak (or Tiger Oak), which was highly popular in the early 1900s for its durability and decorative figure. • Construction: It features a trestle base with a central "stretcher" beam connecting the two legs. This design was originally used in monastery "refectories" (dining halls) because it provides stability without leg interference for those sitting at the table.
