Seller's Notes:In the 1980s, International Contract Furnishings was renowned for well-built licensed versions of classics of 20th century design, including chairs designed by Josef Hoffmann. ICF sold "to the trade" for hard use in offices, restaurants, and hotels. One exception to the trade-only policy was a (now-defunct) outlet located on LaGuardia Place in Greenwich Village known as OOPS ("Originals On Permanent Sale). OOPS was a clearinghouse for ICF's odd-lots, overruns, etc. My husband and I purchased these chairs at OOPS as newlyweds in 1986, and they have served us well for nearly 40 years. But age has caught up with our bodies, and we now prefer chairs with arms for more support. Hence, we are selling these. The chairs are structurally extremely sound (to be expected from the intended market for ICF products), but with cosmetic wear-and-tear consistent with their now-vintage age. There are small nicks, scuffs, and scratches in the wood, but they are hard to see in the black ebonized wood frame. One of the seats (all are black leather) has some discoloration (it is the chair at a 45 degree angle, best seen in the first picture; depending on how the light hits, the discoloration becomes less visible, as seen in the 5th and last pictures. It is also the chair with the most surface nicks). The leather has stretched a bit over time on several of the more-used chairs, but none have cracks or tears.
