Herman Miller Eames Fiberglass Shell Chairs
Product details
Seller's Notes:Pair of 4th Generation, Later Cincinnati Milacron (Star), 1965-78 Ochre Light Color Eames Fiberglass Shell Chair. Original Eames stamps on the bottom as well as a partial tag still in tact on one of them. Excellent condition, minor wear in line with their age. One is missing a single screw on the underside base. I have had this pair for 20 years but I am moving to NYC and clearing things out. Charles and Ray Eames designed the molded fiberglass chair in 1948 for the International Competition of Low-Cost Furniture Design held by the Museum of Modern Art. Production began in 1950 by Zenith Plastics for Herman Miller and the chairs were offered for sale that year. That same year the Museum of Modern Art placed it in its permanent collection. An incredible piece of history!
