Seller's Notes:This is a vintage set of Herman Miller Eames Bikini chairs form the 1960's. Original label still attached. The metal is off white on the seat and legs are silver metal. They were bought at a flea market 20 years ago and I have had them ever since. I need 6 chairs now, so these must go. The photos do not do them justice. They are overall in great condition considering their age. I took photos of the worst spots to be up front. they are perfectly sturdy and ready to use. If you love mid century modern furniture or are a collector of vintage pieces, these are a great find. It's near impossible to find 4 of these together, I have tried to get others to match these.
Perhaps more than any design in their oeuvre, the shell chair represents the Eames’ disinterest in superficial aesthetics and their agnostic approach to material. What mattered most to them was the integrity of the form, function, and context—or as Charles often said: “The best for the most for the least.” It’s this attitude that pushed them to explore the shell chair in a variety of finishes, materials, and base configurations.
