Dining table is solid wood, golden-hued Tiger Maple with traditional "trestle and post" construction, from contemporary design house well known for high-end furnishings. Eldred Wheeler furniture is also considered a collectible, as it's no longer being made or sold. Yes, you can google that, but if what you are really looking for is a fine dining table, here is your deal! It seats 8 people comfortably (3 on each side, two at the ends). When both leaves are folded it's 21 inches deep; when open to it's full 42 inches. The delicately tapered legs are square. Each of the drop leaves are one single plank of the wood from the original maple tree. And yes, top and leaves are 3-inch thick solid maple. Not a scratch on it, all the more to admire the whorls and design of the smooth natural maple tabletop. Tiger maple is unusual (see detail photo) and expensive - so if you are looking to add a convertible peice (for sofa table/entertaining largely, or daily dining table) this is an artisanal, handmade beauty you won't want to cover with a tablecloth.
