Haeger started his brick making business in 1871 along the bank of the Fox River in Dundee, Illinois. he clay on the river banks provided the bricks that helped re-build Chicago after the city’s great fire. Alexandra Haeger Estes (David’d great granddaughter) announced on April 6, 2016 that Haeger Potteries anticipated shutting down after 145 years in business.
