Charles and Ray Eames designed the DAW armchair in 1950 as part of a plastic chair collection. Produced by Vitra the Eames plastic chairs are the first serially produced plastic chairs in furniture history and are today available with various seats and frames, making them both multi-functional and multi-purpose. Since 2024 Vitra has manufactured the Eames Plastic Chair seat shells from resource-saving recycled material.
