Duncan Phyfe Style Needlepoint Seat Chair
Product details
Seller's Notes:This chair was in the same family for at least a century, and appears to date to the 19th century. It was referred to, in the family, as "the Chippendale chair," but the style is much more Duncan Phyfe than Chippendale. This chair is for decoration, not for sitting in. It is too delicate to hold a person of normal weight. There is a piece of veneer that separated from the front of the chair's seat back; you can glue it back on, but (as shown in the photos) a small piece of it is missing and so there will be a small gap in the veneer even after you glue this piece back on. A number of cracks have previously been repaired. The stuffing is sagging from the underside of the seat as shown in the photos, and this produces a dip in the needlepoint surface of the seat. It has cracks, scrapes, and imperfections that are unsurprising in a chair of its age. Thus it is available at a price far below what a Duncan Phyfe chair would ordinarily command.
