clearly architectural. For designer Ceci Thompson, the thrill of her midcentury-inspired design is in the reveal. "I like the idea of having the structural components exposed and celebrated," she says. Inspired by the cross-brace construction of the John Hancock building in Chicago, this sculptural diner makes its framework the focus. A clear round of non-tempered glass floats on a base of mixed materials. Solid oak panels compose a striated effect of tone and grain, reinforced by a center cross base of iron with brushed nickel finish. Scaled compact to dine four comfortably in small spaces.
