Seller's Notes: Crate & Barrel Avery Swivel Glider MSRP: $1099 *Classic armchair comfort with the rock-and-roll motion of a 360-degree swivel glider. Skirted slipcover in a taupe and natural pinstripe with contrasting check side panels covers the welcoming rolled arms, back, and deep cushions. *Kiln-dried hardwood frame with synthetic webbing. *Soft down blend seat cushion encased in downproof ticking; tight back with polyfiber cushion. *Prewashed, removable 100% cotton slipcover is machine washable. Care per Crate & Barrel Information Sheet: *Do not leave newspaper or other printed material lying on surface. *Washable slipcover. I paid over $200 to have it dry cleaned once and have never machine washed it. *Clean with H2O based cleaning agents or mild water-free solvent. *Vacuum and rotate cushion periodically. *Avoid direct sunlight. *Do not leave spills unattained. Item History: I purchased the Avery Swivel Glider in May 2007 from Crate & Barrel on Madison Ave in NYC for my very first apartment. I lived in a one bedroom that was converted to a two-bedroom at the time and felt that this warmed my bedroom up. It was my reading chair next to my bed and I kept it covered in a white cotton throw blanket to prevent color-transfer or staining. It has maybe been sat on 10-20 times ever! It’s mostly for show. Unfortunately, the draping of the white cotton throw allowed the top of left arm rest to become discolored from sunlight exposure. One side of the seat cushion's cover has very minor sunlight discoloration at the edge. The reverse side has a larger area of discoloration from when I spot washed a mark with gentle detergent. This hasn't been an issue for me, as I leave the discolored side up for my daily use and flip it to the nice side when I am expecting company, but you should be aware of it. (Please see close-up photos. Note that the lighting in my room sometimes has a yellow-cast. The main photo shows the true color of the chair.) I paid to have the slipcover completely dry cleaned and pressed for over $200, but Crate & Barrel says that the slipcover can be machine washed and/or replaced. Due to the high cost of this item and the 100% cotton fabric, I felt dry cleaning was best. The slipcover reattaches with velcro on the body of the chair and with a zipper on the seat cushion. The chair was really only used for 1 1/2 years. I moved to a larger apartment and lost the roommate. The chair is only used for show now. It's a good sized piece at 34"W x 33"D x 34"H and I am looking to free up some space. The cushions themselves are in excellent condition and it swivels and glides like new. I have kept the bottom of the chair protected with felt at the points where it touches my hardwood floor.
