Seller's Notes: This exquisite canopy Chinese wedding Opium bed has extraordinary hand carved details. It features a base with a waist, ice-plate edged frame enclosing a woven top, aprons, interior shelf and drawers and reticulated scroll work, six posts forming the frame for the railing and canopy, decorated with panels and fretwork, meticulous carved with seasonal floral motifs (prosperity symbol) of peony, chrysanthemum and prunus, auspicious phoenixes, chilin, fu-lions, deer, cranes, bats, a cicada and ruyi, scholastic treasures and families’ favorite ducks and dogs. The red and gold lacquer paint technique is used to embellish the details of the original carvings. This bed is made of maple and elm wood and is simply joined together using tongue and grove joinery. Surprisingly easy to assemble with a few people. This bed is rare and is in pristine condition with ordinary wear and distressing. This is a showroom piece and includes a custom latex bed.
