Seller's Notes:Antique Cast Iron Archival Library Bookcase by Snead & Co. A rare four bay cast iron library bookshelf. These bookcases with adjustable steel shelves were the standard in the late 19th and early 20th century for library and archival storage, and were used by the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the NY Public Library, as well as many university libraries, thanks in part to the building initiatives of Andrew Carnegie. There are a total of 24 shelves, each measuring 33" W. Total of 4 bays which can be separated into two units.
