Product details
Seller's Notes:condition: good Bent & Bros., founded in 1850 at Gardner, Mass., by Samuel, Charles and Roderic Bent, was a furniture manufacturer incorporated in 1867. The firm made high quality, medium-priced chairs, tables, rockers, benches, stools and children's items until it closed in 2001. Although mass-produced in a factory, Bent furniture is admired for its fine workmanship and materials. this maple, bow-back Windsor type armchair follows the form of handmade chairs crafted in this country during the 1700s. Replicated by designer Wallace Nutting during the early 20th century Colonial Revival movement, Windsor chairs reached their peak of popularity in the 1920s. Following World War II, new emphasis on Colonial architecture and interior decor revived interest in Windsor furniture. During the 1950s and early 1960s, Bent produced dining sets comprised of a table, four side chairs and two bow-back armchairs such as yours. The pieces are branded with the mark found on your chair as well as a series of numbers that identify the pattern, frequently designated "Colonial."
