Arne Jacobsen - MCM Egg Chair
Product details
Seller's Notes:While his peers were experimenting with industrial materials, Arne Jacobsen focused on the upholstered armchair, believing it could be reinterpreted through a modernist lens. The Egg (1958) proves so. A molded piece of foam sits beneath the upholstery, creating the chair’s fluid curves. Sitters can turn toward a conversation area or away thanks to the swivel base and the chair also tilts back for lounging. Beautifully upholstered in Black/Navy Sunniva fabric, the chair looks navy in natural light and black in darker, moody lighting. It’s just gorgeous! A MCM lover’s dream.
The Fritz Hansen armchair Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen was designed in 1958 for the entrance
area of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
This was Jacobsens chance. Now he was able to put his theories into practice.
The order was to design the hotel builduing and the interior in every detail.
Now an absolute and unforgettable classic. Arne Jacobsen was the first to use a new technique -
A solid plastic shell with cold foam padding.
