Seller's Notes:Purchased from a private owner in Lake City, Michigan and owned for approximately 9 years. Ready for a new home! No smoking in our home, we do have a dog (doodle). There are no odors. Well-cared for, beautiful piece of history, estimated age about 100 years old. Some surface scratches on lower shelf, and some small "dings" on top, consistent with age/wear, adds patina. No manufacturer info found. Some stamped numbers as pictured. This is an antique American Empire or Victorian-style library table made from quarter-sawn or "tiger" oak. These tables were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and are characterized by their distinctive, heavily curved or scrolled legs, often referred to as "S" curve supports or ogee feet. Key Features Style: American Empire or Victorian, also sometimes associated with Mission or Craftsman styles due to the oak material. Material: Quarter-sawn oak, known for its prominent, decorative grain patterns (ray flecks), giving it the "tiger oak" appearance. Design: The table features a single, shallow center drawer with wooden knobs and a lower display shelf or stretcher base, designed for functionality in a library or living room. Legs: The defining feature is the large, ornate, and scrolled legs that provide stability and a unique aesthetic. These pieces are often considered functional and decorative antiques, typically used as console tables, sofa tables, or desks. Thanks for looking!
