Seller's Notes: An enchanting Hand Carved Jade Quartz Sculptural Figure, mounted as a Table Lamp on a Brass and Rosewood Stand, electrified with a normal lightbulb fixture and a rotary nob for an inner night light that enchantingly lights up the Green Jade Quartz sculptures around the lightbulb into a calming green white internal glow. This lamp's Jadeite Carving dates to around 1860. In the early 20th Century this Jadeite Carving was transformed into an electrified Lamp, with an inner light bulb especially placed in the middle of the Jadeite Sculpture. Then Chinese merchants marketed these “For Export” Art Lamps in the United States, where electrical wiring was added, and continuously refined over the years (present wiring looks to be from the 1980’s). Motifs that are hand carved into this single Jadeite Quartz Stone of 9 1/2” height, 4” width, and 2 1/2” thick include two opposite-facing ducks (one near the brass electrical piping) looking backward while the duck on the front of the lamp looks straight ahead. Below the ducks are carved pedestals, atop four-legged animals. Aside from the ducks there look to be two skulls or other animal heads, below which are blooming flowers with little circles signifying petals. Jade Quartz has natural cracks, some of which are highlighted by years of dust seeping in. The Brass Base and Brass top pieces have floral motifs, which step up to a rosewood latticed sectional mid-base, atop which the Jadeite Sculpture is mounted. Dimensions are 32 1/2” tall, 6” by 5” base, and 11 lbs weight. For clarity, Jadeite and Jade Quartz refer to the same stone, a fluorite family of hard, beautiful rock that has been traditionally mined and carved by Chinese Artists for thousands of years. Priced very low for what this is. You can replace the lamp shade to fit your needs, but this raw Jade Carving Antique is, I believe, worth thousands of dollars and, for collectors, the value will only go up in time. This is a Chinese Antique Jade Quartz treasure.
