Antique Chinese Carved Wood Mirror
Product details
Seller's Notes:19th Century Chinese carved wood mirror. Probably elmwood with beautiful rich patina. Could be rosewood. Huge, sofa-length mirror. Incredible reticulated carvings, all kinds of fretwork and trellis patterns. Great antique condition with expected wear; cracks, chips, splits in the wood from age. Left edge isn’t perfectly square. Small drilled hole, one at top left and one at top right, were probably used at some point for hanging. All is solid and well made. Likely, it was originally a bed panel or similar, mirror added more recently. From an estate in Greenwich, Connecticut. A statement mirror, which makes any room better and makes the space seem a lot bigger. Like adding a window. Metal cleat attached to the back for hanging. The back is just plain board, which holds the mirror in place. NOTE; the very top row of 5 carved panels is NOT mirror-backed. It's hard to tell, but along that top row you're seeing the wall color through the openings in the carving. Selling only due to upcoming long distance move.
