Seller's Notes:This stunning, plush golden velvet chair was made to order from Anthropologie 4 years ago. It looks great with just a couple small worn areas, and is still very beautiful and cozy. I wish I could keep it, but it no longer fits in my space. I would love for it to find a good home!
The scalloped-back chair first gained popularity in the 1940s, when it was welcomed for a boudoir shape that felt pleasantly indulgent after the drab and reserved furniture of the post-war 30s. Design's long-standing affection for scalloping is also known as Biomorphism — the process of modeling artistic elements on naturally occurring patterns and living organisms.
