19th Century Beidermeier Bureau Fruitwood Veneer
Product details
Seller's Notes:This elegant bureau is made of golden, honey-colored fruitwood and features fine veneer that creates wave-like patterns on each drawer front. The three drawers are slightly graduated in height and have their original hardware. Construction features include beading, chamfered corners and flat horizontal panels on the ends. The bureau is an excellent example of the Biedermeier style, which was popular in Europe, especially Germany, Austria and Sweden, and in the US, from the early to the later mid-19th C. We cannot be certain where it originated, however, we inherited it from a friend whose parents left Hamburg in the early 20th century and brought many fine furnishings with them. This antique piece would enhance a contemporary or period setting. We would continue to live wit it but are downsizing to a smaller apartment.
