Seller's Notes:Nature Slices is a brand that designs and develops products for home and outside in partnership with farmers, artisans, and makers, who manufacture products made with the least impact on earth’s resources. The products we chose to work with are sustainable and eco-friendly products that can be used without guilt but with a lot of pride. They are made from natural or recycled materials. They are ethically sourced, mostly from underprivileged, but amazingly skilled artisans. Most of our products are crafted by hand, often by women who may not have many opportunities to earn a living otherwise. It makes us grateful, humble, and proud to realize that when such products draw more and more interest from markets, more women are getting employed in those villages. Moved by what we saw from these hardworking individuals, we knew we found our calling - to create sustainable products that would not only provide livelihoods for these artisans but also promote environmental stewardship. Marantaceae plant is a reed plant family sustainably grown in Southeast Asia, commonly found near water bodies. The cultivation of Marantaceae plants requires minimal natural resources and involves very little management by farmers, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly crop. They are harvested, sliced, boiled, dried and hand-woven by skillful artisans into beautiful designs. The end product obtained from weaving is completely natural and biodegradable. It is then crafted into Placemats, Runners and Area Rugs.
