Seller's Notes:Beautiful antique Chinese chest/sideboard with rich character and presence. I purchased this piece in the countryside outside Beijing in 1997, and it has been a favorite ever since. According to the “experts” I consulted at the time, it likely dates from the mid-19th century, though I cannot officially certify its age. The chest features traditional Chinese hardware and a wonderful aged patina developed over generations. It shows wear, marks, and imperfections consistent with age and use — exactly the kind of patina that gives it its charm and authenticity. This is not a pristine, factory-finished piece; its character comes from the history written into the wood. A striking statement piece that works beautifully as a sideboard, console, media cabinet, or decorative storage chest.
