Spanish Wood Antique 1700s Armoire
Product details
Seller's Notes:This extraordinary hand-crafted armoire is a striking example of old-world Spanish design. The heavy iron strapping, hammered metal panels, and arched cathedral doors are all hallmarks of Spanish Colonial craftsmanship from the 1700s. Built from solid hardwood, it was likely used to store textiles or religious vestments in a hacienda or mission home. The wood bears the kind of rich patina that only centuries can create—warm golden undertones with deep iron accents that speak of its age and authenticity. Inside, the broad shelves and hidden compartments suggest it was later adapted for more practical household use, possibly as a cupboard or cabinet in a merchant’s home. Every hinge and ring handle is forged by hand. The piece feels both architectural and intimate, like it could have stood in a monastery corridor or a noble’s study. We originally purchased it for our home because of its commanding presence and historic charm, but we’ve decided to go in another design direction. It deserves a space where its history can truly be showcased—whether as a statement piece in a Mediterranean-inspired home, a wine cabinet, or an old-world media armoire.
