Seller's Notes: These two stipple engravings by Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759-1840) are in gold leaf frames 1st edition 1817. The artist perfected this method of engraving himself unsatisfied by traditional methods of copper engraving. Part of the Les Roses collection which was created at the height of his career for his most important patron Empress Josephine Bonaparte. These outstanding drawings are in superb condition.
