Seller's Notes: Up for sale a pair of early 20th century antique French Directoire style low mahogany side tables with gallery tops, 2 lock/key drawers each (no keys) and standing on 4 tapered legs on cylindrical feet with an open bottom shelf. The tables are solid, but have had a good life and show the marks of their age. They are an inspired bit of shabby chic: a piece of the gallery molding on one table is missing, the tops of both tables have some stable splits and one of the small molded pieces on the tapered legs is missing, but otherwise the tables are quite sturdy. See the photos. The tables were probably quite expensive when they were new a 100 years ago and they still maintain that good quality despite their age and condition issues. And of course they still retain the simple elegance of the French Directoire style which combined with some wear gives these tables a nice patina of age and history. They tell an unwritten story of shabby chic. This pair of tables is perfect for a living room or for use as bedside tables. Since these tables are a speciality antique item, I am happy to schedule a viewing of the pieces for a potential buyer who would like to see them in person.
