Bay View Furniture Co Vintage Flip-Top Spinet Ladies Desk
Product details
Seller's Notes:This antique desk was a hand-me-down. The design and details of this desk suggests its maker was the Bay View Furniture Co of Holland Michigan, manufactured in early 1900's using a combination mahogany and perhaps another type of wood. The sheridan style legs are detachable and the boxy top desk part has a flip-up top that reveals a kaboodle of drawers and slots and a slide-out writing table. There used to be a drawer underneath the slide out portion, but that went missing. Back then, it was marketed as a 'Ladies' Desk. The brownish color has a charming antique character, with red and yellow vignettes throughout. I tried my best to capture detail of the wear and tear. When you're up close and personal with the piece, there is a moderate amount of scuffs and scratches, one and a half water rings (only slightly visible), and some dull spots (on the pull-out portion). and sun discoloration (where the flip up top opens - again only slightly visible) I believe the finish to be original.
