Seller's Notes: This antique English lap desk is from the 19th Century, sometime around 1875. It was purchased in 1990 from Kentshire Galleries, which at the time was located within Bergdorf Goodmans in NYC. The boxes exterior is made of Coromandel wood, which originated from India and SE Asia, but is now virtually extinct. The box is trimmed with an inlayed brass border. The interior leather table is in good condition for it's age, and also contains 2 original ink bottles. The box has a J. Bramah lock, that at the time was one of the world's most secure lock brands. These boxes usually sell for anywhere from $2-4K. This desk is quite solid & is in good shape especially for it's age, but could also use a little TLC, and is priced accordingly.
Condition: Satisfactory: Moderate wear and tear, but still has many good years left
Wear and tear details: Cracks on top of box, Some wear on internal leather surface, Some warping of outer brass inlays
Age: 145+ Years Old
Overall Dimensions: Width: 18 inches, Height: 7.25 inches, Depth: 10 inches
